Figures released today by the Scots Language Centre show that there have been more than 36,000 visits to the Centre’s web site in the last year. Speaking about the figures, Michael Hance, the Centre’s Director, said he was, “very pleased” with the numbers.

“It isn’t just that the number of visits is up, it’s the fact that visitors are spending time on the site that is so encouraging. People visiting the site have looked at around 150,000 pages. I think that shows there is a hunger for information about the language.”

Dr Colin Milton, Convenor of the Centre’s Council, said the figures demonstrated that the Centre represented, “good value for money for the Scots tax payer”.

“The Centre is providing tens of thousands of Scots with information about the language and its culture at a cost that represents minimal out lay for the Scottish government and its agencies.”
