Billy Kay, long-time broadcaster, writer, and campaigner for the Scots language, was awarded an honorary degree this month in recognition of his work in Scottish culture and the Scots language. Billy, who entered broadcasting in 1979 and is author of ‘Scots The Mither Tongue’, was given his honorary degree by the University of the West of Scotland at a graduation ceremony held on 1 July 2009 in Troon Concert Hall.
