MSP Writes on Wedding Row
Dr Bill Wilson, SNP MSP for the West of Scotland, has written to Linda Fabiani, the Scottish Government Minister for Europe, External Affairs and Culture, asking her to inform all Scotland’s registrars that they must conduct wedding ceremonies in Scots, if couples request it.
Dr Wilson’s letter to Ms Fabiani was in response to concerns expressed by Colin Wilson (no relation), the author of the “Luath Scots Language Learner”, who found the chief registrar of Aberdeen was reluctant to let him and his fianceé, Fiona Henderson, have their marriage ceremony conducted in Doric.
